Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI). CAHI is the trade association representing animal health companies that develop, manufacture and distribute animal health products.
New animal health products are approved by either Health Canada's Veterinary Drugs Directorate or Pest Management Regulatory Agency or alternately, the Veterinary Biologics Section of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). These products include pharmaceuticals, feed additives, biologicals (vaccines), and animal pesticides. The animal health industry plays a vital role in animal agricultural production and the lives of our pets. Healthy animals make great companions, and produce a healthy food supply.
The Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI) is the trade association representing the developers, manufacturers and distributors of animal pharmaceuticals, biologics, feed additives and animal pesticides in Canada. CAHI is a national association, whose members are responsible for sales of approximately 90% of the animal health product market in Canada. Sales by CAHI member companies in 2010 were approximately $507 million. CAHI is a member of the International Federation for Animal Health, the Canadian Animal Health Coalition, and an observer on the VICH, the International Cooperation on Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Registration of Veterinary Products. CAHI is located in Guelph, Ontario.
